Woot Shirt Contest

You can design a shirt based on their weekly theme. Then Woot users vote on it. You cannot vote unless you purchased something from them at some point in your lives and also registered with the site. Last week I had like 50 votes on my design. Nothing compared to the 300 plus the winners took. All good though this will help my design skills.

For those of you who missed my birthday party here are a few shots from it. They will all be part of my album soon. Yeah that's Greg doing his thing, Jason "dancing", Pete and I conversing, and the 3 of us laughing it up.

Ricks Wedding

I guess I failed to mention the little adventure we had once we left Rick's Wedding. Basically we followed his buddy Jeff and got pulled over. Keith was driving his car, I'm in the passenger seat and Vince is in the back. We are all in kilts. The cop asks Keith questions then finally asks me to step out.

Says, "I want you to take the breathalyser test. If you pass then you can drive." So he pulls out that stupid machine, I breath into it, pass and am allowed to drive us home.

Cop says, " How's it feel to be in a skirt."
So I turned and said, " I'm an Indian kid, on the side of the highway, in a Kilt...how do you think I feel?"
He laughed and basically waved us to leave.

So that's that. Much funnier after the fact.

Motivational Quote

"Our lives are not determined by what happens to us, but by how we react to what happens, not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life"

Cognitive Distortions

Read this today. Very interesting. We all do this stuff.

Basically cognitive distortions are exaggerations of the truth, and you have to realize you are doing it, and then rationalize the distortion into what is actually true.

1. ALL-OR-NOTHING THINKING: You see things in black-and white categories. If your performance falls short of perfect, you see yourself as a total failure.

2. OVERGENERALIZATION: you see a single negative event as a never-ending pattern of defeat.

3. MENTAL FILTER: You pick out a single negative detail and dwell on it exclusively so that your vision of all reality become darkened, like the drop of ink that discolors the entire beaker of water.

4. DISQUALIFYING THE POSITIVE: You reject positive experiences by insisting they "don't count" for some reason or other. In this way you can maintain a negative belief that is contradicted by your everyday experiences.

5. JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS: You make a negative interpretation even though there are no definite facts that convincingly support your conclusion.

a. Mind reading. You arbitrarily conclude that someone is reacting negatively to you, and you don't bother to check this out.

b. The Fortune Teller Error. You anticipate that things will turn out badly, and you feel convinced that your prediction is an already-established fact.

6. MAGNIFICATION (CATASTROPHIZING) OR MINIMIZATION: You exaggerate the importance of things (such as your goof-up or someone else's achievement), or you inappropriately shrink things until they appear tiny (your own desirable qualities or the other fellow's imperfections). This is also called the "binocular trick."

7. EMOTIONAL REASONING: You assume that your negative emotions necessarily reflect the way things really are: "I feel it, therefore it must be true."

8. SHOULD STATEMENTS: You try to motivate yourself with shoulds and shouldn'ts, as if you had to be whipped and punished before you could be expected to do anything. "Musts" and "aughts" are also offenders. The emotional consequence is guilt. When you direct should statements toward others, you feel anger, frustration, and resentment.

9. LABELING AND MISLABELING: This is an extreme form of overgeneralization. Instead of describing your error, you attach a negative label to yourself: "I'm a loser." when someone else's behavior rubs you the wrong way, you attach a negative label to him: "He's a goddam louse." Mislabeling involves describing an event with language that is highly colored and emotionally loaded.

10. PERSONALIZATION: You see yourself as the cause of some negative external event which in fact you were not primarily responsible for.

Spooky Ghost images

This photograph appeared in both the Chicago Sun-Times and the National Examiner. It was taken during an investigation in Bachelor's Grove Cemetery on August 10, 1991 with a group of GRS members. The picture is an enlarged black and white infrared shot taken of an area where many of the group noticed something unusual with some of the equipment they used. It shows a young woman sitting on a tombstone with parts of her lower and upper body being somewhat semi-transparent. The dress she is wearing is also out-of-date. It was taken by member, Jude Huff-Felz.

This photograph was taken with an old-styled Polaroid land camera in 1959 at a location on north Damon Ave. in Hanover Park, Illinois which no longer exists. It shows a real girl standing on the stairs and this strange mist-like substance which seems to be exuding from her stomach region and collecting along the entire stairway. Some parts are translucent while others seem visually opaque. This may be a psychic photograph; in other words ectoplasm being produced by a living person. Externalization of thought.

Funny

Pete just said he's gonna send an article about me to the newspapers.

Headline:

"Local comic connoisseur foregoes sleep to watch movies, tv, and read every book"

....arousing suspicion of a closet heroin and cocaine dealer/user....

I thought it was funny so i posted it.

Bullshit

So basically I HAD a free camera, but some people couldnt stop bitching and complaining about it. Bitches! I've decided feck it I'll get my own. Why? Because I don't want anyone getting in trouble for doing me any favors. Simple as that. I work. I can afford it.

Took this picture of Scott's BIG ASS MUG a few weeks ago. One wonders what Pete's doing in the background. HAHAHA

So tonight we are all going to dinner at the Grand Lux and then drinking it up. Tomorrow we are going to Biaggis and that's right, drinking it up.

Last, check this out. Some guy built a whole HALO costume, a crazy diorama, and a site to HALO trailers.

New Batman Images

The link below will show you new images from the upcoming Dark Knight film.

Dark Knight

Labor Day Weekend

So I watched the new Halloween flick over the weekend, the Rob Zombie version. I liked it. John Carpenter gave us a great version, but the back story was left open to your mind. I think the version Rob Zombie did was done well because you got a feel for how Michael Myers went psycho. Two different takes on the same character. I liked the fact that the new version moved faster, didn't let things like doors impede his forward progression to get to his victims and how he was all in all, only human. The original was a good film as well. It suggested Michael was human, yet he couldn't die. There comes a point where you have to explain that better. So without argument I love both films.

My only regret is I would have like a couple more jump scenes, but it's been a very, very long time since I've seen a horror flick I could call phenomenal. I can't even remember the last one that scared the living hell outta me. You know those films that stick with you for like a week because you keeping thinking the creature, person, or demon is waiting for you in the shadows.

Anyone interested in Halloween or Michael Myers check out the link below. Some good info, but hell watch the films too.
